Wanting to try yoga but not ready to jump into a group class?
This introductory 6-week workshop series will help new students feel comfortable and confident to begin their yoga practice.
Yoga is for everyone! This includes all body-types and ages. This workshop will help students learn basic alignment that can be applied to every yoga pose including, injury management and modifications. We will also introduce the anatomy of breathing, connecting our breath and movement, and provide simple breathing exercises that can be used anywhere. The flow will be conversational, the pace chill, with opportunities to ask questions and quell fears.
No prior yoga experience needed. Come wearing loose fitting, comfortable clothing . Mats and props will be provided. The series run 3/28-5/2. Students can sign up with a prorated rate after the series has started.

Katonah Yoga Series: Practical Magic

In this series, we will explore the Katonah Yoga lens, deepen skill, integrate breath and body, link metaphor & alignment, and culminate with personal insight and integration. Expect to learn more about your body through the repeating process of 1) stability, 2) capacity, and 3) vision. Each session will include physical asana, Katonah theory, and pranayama (breath work). The practice is a communal practice where everyone is supported by the group through a sometimes difficult-to-stay-in asana practice that also supports the development of your tenacity.
This series run 4/13 - 5/11 and can be prorated for students signing up after the first session. The sessions will be recorded to in the case you miss one, the recording will be sent to you. Students with memberships gets a discount!

Erica Barth
Series: Baby and Me Yoga

Join Erica for a Baby & Me class for infants-through crawlers , and their care-givers. Class will focus on strengthening and energizing the body, while giving both caregivers (and babies!) time to deeply relax.
Poses that help to strengthen core muscles, tone the back and pelvic floor, and release shoulder and chest tension will be incorporated throughout the class, as well as evidence-based mindfulness techniques to manage and reduce stress. Dialog is encouraged so that participants can build community and offer support to one another; sharing wisdom about the physical and emotional joys and challenges of being a new parent.
Babies can be fed or changed throughout class and hands-on support will be offered so that caregivers can receive a full and nourishing practice while their babies are cared for and engaged.
This 6-week series run 4/17-5/22. Students can sign up with a prorated rate after the series has started.

Alex Beckmann & Mimi Chiahemen
Root To Rest - A Cacao & Sound Ceremony

Join Mimi Chiahemen and Alex Beckmann for an evening of warmth and surrender. We'll begin with a ceremonial cacao ceremony to open the heart, then flow into a gently heated flow held by props and live sound to soften the body and nervous system. Melting into long-held, supported poses, this practice is designed to release what the body has been quietly holding. Come as you are. Leave lighter.
Dress comfortably, in layers, and bring a water bottle and a journal (optional).
Alex Beckmann, a drummer, producer, and sound meditation facilitator based in NYC, is dedicated to ongoing exploration and study of various instruments and healing modalities. Actively involved in communities like Creative Music Studio, Dharmachanics, and Unified Mindfulness, Alex seeks to synthesize the healing arts, improvisation, deep listening, and Dharma to inspire positive change.
Mimi Chiahemen is a teacher at Harlem Yoga Studio. She teaches a mid-tempo vinyasa flow bookended by meditation and restorative postures. Her practice is trauma-informed, heart-centered, and seeks to help folx slow down and reconnect to their heart/mind/body. Also a Reiki Master, she weaves her attunement to energetic healing and knowledge of the chakra system into all her offerings.
