Love is Expansive: Community LOVE

ericabarthny

February is a month where there is a lot of focus on Luuuuuuurve!  💕💞 💗.

And while I love LOVE  each year around this time it becomes particularly apparent that Romantic love is placed on a pedestal in our culture.  Movies, music, and society at large bombard us with the impression that finding romance is the source of all fulfillment and happiness.  But love is not meant to be confined to a single person or relationship—it is an energy, a force that moves through us, connecting us to ourselves, our communities, and the world at large.

To remind us all that love is a force to be expanded rather than a hidden treasure to be un-earthed, our theme this month is  💞 Community Love.  This type of love is what the Philosopher Plato  envisioned, and while the term "Platonic" has come to be narrowly defined in opposition to "Romantic"  the intended meaning is far more expansive.      Plato believed there was a pure transcendent connection that goes beyond physical attraction and personal desire, a love that guides individuals toward higher forms of truth and wisdom.

Yoga can help us create and spread this transcendence by cultivating a presence, connection, and openness from within .  Through breath, movement, and mindfulness, yoga dissolves the illusion of separation, allowing us to experience love as a diffused energy rather than something dependent on another person.  Over time, the practice softens our boundaries, fostering a love that is not possessive or transactional but expansive—flowing freely into our interactions with others, with nature, and with the world.

Come join us - lets create, share, and spread the LOVE
