Arlo and Neve share a love... for candy hearts!!!
February is the month of Love, and here at Harlem Yoga Studio, we love chocolate hearts, and we LOVE love! We especially love our theme LovingKindness (or Metta in Sanskrit). Lovingkindness transcends the boundaries of romantic and familial love with a boundless and unconditional compassion that extends to all beings. While roses and romance are wonderful, romantic love is by definition an exclusive state tied to specific individuals. Lovingkindness on the other hand is a profound and expansive practice that fosters an attitude of benevolence toward all beings, regardless of their relationship to us. It breaks down the barriers of ego, and expands our capacity for empathy by drawing from a deep-seated recognition of the interconnectedness of all life.
"Lovingkindness transcends the boundaries of romantic and familial love with a boundless and unconditional compassion that extends to all beings."
Lovingkindness is a sustainable and enduring force. Our relationships with romantic partners, family members, or friends may fluctuate, but Metta is not dependent on external circumstances or the reciprocation of affection; instead, it emanates from within, providing a source of strength and resilience. In this way, Lovingkindness offers a more profound and lasting foundation for our well-being, fostering a sense of harmony that extends far beyond any individual connections.
